The milk maids are getting truculent

Another day of dismal weather and no prospect of getting out has left me grouchy. I suspect my normal, less Grinch-like, demeanour is at least 50 per cent down to getting a good distance from my nearest and dearest but with the rain set to permanent we are all lurking in the house at much too close quarters. To add insult to injury, I seem to be permanently losing stuff. Thus far I am down one chocolate orange, one bar of cooking chocolate, all the lids for the yoghurt tubs I keep as freezer fodder and a bag of dried allspice berries. Despite all these aggravation we inch forward….

  • Units of alcohol consumed by cakes – One generous glass – I forgot to buy more sherry.
  • Christmas jumpers knitted – 4 rows whilst waiting for a timer to bong on some soda bread
  • cards – still in the drawer, yet more received – pressure is mounting.
  • presents – today was a mixology day. I mixed up a Sri Lankan curry blend whilst making dinner and also various interesting teas to be decanted them into refillable tea bags. Unfortunately I only got around to sticking the labels on the tea bags after Lachlan had served up the evening gin and – well – I’m not entirely sure that I didn’t mix up the Smokey Fruit and the Pirate Blend. There may also have been confusion between Hot Toddy and Christmas Pudding. Oh well, the flavours are on the subtle side so and as mum says, who even knows how pirates like their tea……
  • personal glamour and grooming – I think I may remove this from the list….
  • bulbs planted – none. Hoping for some gardening tomorrow, though given the rain today we may skip straight to a Somme reenactment
