In a desperate attempt to fit everything in Keith and I dashed off first thing to choose Christmas trees. We got slightly lost en route and had to phone for directions from a lay-by on the Abbotsford back road. A quick u-ie had us back on track and after that all passed smoothly. The trees from Rhymer’s Glen were really lovely, proper bushy ones not the etiolated, absinthe drinking, effete numbers of yore. Keith was so chuffed he even bought me a log reindeer.
Back home again, I had the first quick turnaround of the day, bundling the dog into the car for a trip to the butcher’s in Norham and a walk by the river. It was very muddy! The river has totally overflowed the lower path and even the upper one is soggy. It was, of course, fine weather for ducks and there was much satisfied quacking from the invaders. Our big fella cormorant was back in the tree, but with no acolytes this time. Further along the little white egret was watching her chicks sneak out from behind the bush she had parked them in to go for trial dives. She shook her head a lot…
Once we had refilled the fridge Mum and I were straight off again on the Christmas shopping express to Kelso. I don’t think Mum’s heart was entirely in it (though it was her idea, having rejected internet shopping as too difficult (and as Mum’s IT advisor – I concur)). “I think I have gone off shopping” she muttered, lugging just the two large bags back to the car. I think we can all empathise with this sentiment.
Today’s quiz question: What fruity feature forms part of a Duke’s coronet?
Yesterday’s answer – Canada

I can also concur with sentiment re; shopping! 🤷♀️🥴
You have a tree at least! 🌲👏👏
