Four days in….
- Cakes baked – still a big fat zero. I was all set to go when the quartermaster remembered he had forgotten to purchase the crucial requested ingredient. Promises have been made for tomorrow…
- Christmas jumpers knitted – No further forward, though did roll up a few balls of displacement activity wool to be deployed pending the you tube tutorial.
- cards – still in the drawer
- presents – we went to a lovely new gallery in the square today and I saw many things I fancy. Sadly this does not count as progress….I did though post two parcels so there is that.
- personal glamour and grooming – nul points…
- bulbs planted – bit too chilly out….
So what on earth did we do?? Well we went to mum’s new house in Coldstream and spent at least an hour measuring walls and doors and planning their relocation. We then spent a happy hour in the gallery wondering if mum had enough pictures. I was all set to make cakes after this as a token gesture to Christmas but was cruelly thwarted by the absence of evaporated milk. What’s a girl to do? By way of displacement activity I made an experimental coconut loaf which will be tested tomorrow and a rather fine pasta dinner. The base pasta sauce (recipe in link) was a puttanesca/agrodolce mashup. This led to a “sauce origin” discussion over dinner. Keith was busy explaining to my mum that puttanesca was so called because it was a quick sauce one could throw together from cupboard staples “between shags” when our son facepalmed and wondered whether it might just be because it was “quick and easy`’. I must confess the play on words had never occurred to me either……..
Oh well, I guess it’s Scarlett O’ Hara time again…(Tomorrow is another day).

Good read as usual.
Nice to our mum has fond a house closed to hand.
what happened to her old lace, after your battle with the insurance company.
How is Ishbel doing ? She is not mentioned in your blogs.

Barry.
I should read before posting.
Mum’s still in the old place (now sorted) as her new one needs some work (she loves a fixer upper!) but it’s now on the market. Ishbel is working in Oxford now but coming up for Christmas so a guest appearance on the dog walking sagas is to be expected
