- Cakes baked – Six – yes – six
- Christmas jumpers knitted – No progress. I started knitting up the displacement activity balls only to realise they won’t deliver a jumper so I’ll need several fair isle filler rows – the you tube tutorial for the lacey effort is now looking tempting.
- cards – still in the drawer apart from two which snuck into yesterday’s parcels
- presents – I have purchased a voucher. Who knows whether it will ever emerge. etherium much….
- personal glamour and grooming – no one alerted me all day to the egg yolk dribble on my jumper…..
- bulbs planted – the chilly excuse was unavailable,, but still none….Though we had a long chat over cake with Raymond about how there were definitely a couple of weeks “in hand”
Today rose bright and sunny. What the blazes is going on? It is December, I repeat, December. Leaving the quartermaster in charge of securing more eggs and evaporated milk, Mum and I took Lyra for a walk round the back of the loch. Half way round we hit the olfactory heights of fox. We tried calling and coaxing but Lyra’s internal compass had begun to turn inexorably to the lodestone of honk. Thankfully, a jogger passed and her curiosity overcome the lure of foxy fragrance. Middle aged men in lycra – you have value and worth! There was still a tang in the car, but it could have been soooo much worse.
We returned home to discover the quartermaster wandering around in unzipped wellies with no sense of urgency. You simple cannot get the staff. Despite being on the shopping back foot, egg sucking cake making guidance for mothers was offered and, despite this, there were no homicides. Truly I am a saint.
Anyhoo, the evaporated milk was eventually sourced and the cakes were baked. I find myself wondering whether there is a saint of fruitcake….
