10 special reruns

The nearest I can offer to a leaping lord is Keith, who is in physio this evening. He could be leaping….

  • Cakes iced- six.
  • Christmas jumpers knitted – again, maybe later…
  • cards – still in the drawer. More received. We are well into deficit.
  • presents – a few elves seem back on shift – a couple of deliveries arrived today, though not the ones allegedly in smithereens.
  • personal glamour and grooming – hanging by a thread. Mum spent most of the morning pointing out I looked tired….(which I was as my sleep was adversely affected by a bad smell that kept wafting by. That would be the dead mouse kindly left behind the headboard then…). Lyra is rather swanky though, having been to the groomers where she disgraced herself by slipping her lead as an avoidance tactic and crossing two roads to escape. This is not prudent behaviour for a blind dog. words have been had.
  • bulbs planted – 60 (Keith)
  • Christmas specials watched – 1 (Gavin and Stacey, probably for the tenth time!)

Mum went home to Selkirk today to do important Christmas things. (Mum being absent, Lyra now considers herself abandoned and sat woefully by her chair at dinner , wondering who would give up half their fish). We took Lyra for the road trip to free up Keith for bulb planting (after which I think the physio was probably an excellent idea) and had a lovely walk around the Haining. With the trees bare, it’s now all about the rushes, which give warm glow to the edges of the loch. Lyra then waited patiently, only setting the car alarm off twice, whilst I read Mum’s meters before we scooted home to make our own contribution to Christmas. In a tragic fall from grace Lidl had no pre coloured icing and a very unseasonal range of sprinklies. However, I did have a range of fancy colouring gels bought ages ago. I had observed to mum on the circumnavigation of the loch, that the downside with these was that I always ended up looking like Shrek after making the green stuff, when Mum had the frankly genius idea of wearing latex gloves. This worked brilliantly and I mustered several shades of green for a bit of fancy stuff. Results below

I wonder you haven’t torn your hair out after Lyra’s traffic dodging escapade! She is very close to your mum…knows well the soft touch! 🤣
