Knocked for six

Not going to lie I’m feeling a bit feek and weeble today. We walked the pooch in the murk and then I settled in to mince pie making, having received representations about the insufficiency of supplies yesterday. As I was rolling the pastry I felt positively wobbly. Obviously I continued and achieved the epic success of 12 pies none of which stuck to the tin….However, not much else was done. This afternoon I have largely coughed and sneezed and knitted (we’re going for raglan for those following developments) with the Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles on the earphones by way of company. It’s really an excellent book – so I’d highly recommend that (also his Codes of Civility which saw me through a tricky bit of embroidery a couple of days ago). I can’t decide if I like these two American novels more than A Gentleman in Moscow, which was the first of his I read – it’s a tough call. His characters are very relatable and engaging without being at all saccharine (which I loathe).

Anyway – it’s a short one tonight as I’m off to wallow in Vicks vaporub with a side order of Sudafed.

Today’s quiz question is a bookish one:

What “small” feature at Dimperley is in the title of the 2024 Novel by Lissa Evans?

Yesterday’s answer is cinnamon and cardamom
