I was a seething mass of tension all day today. Blowed if I know why, but it was just like the dread that would come over me on a Sunday when I knew work had been pinging in minute by minute all weekend and myriad deadlines were imminent. Even the walk round the lake with Lyra didn’t shift it and only now am I starting to relax. Is it the Ritter Sport I found in the cupboard perhaps? Or maybe just scrolling the doom-laden news – those poor people on Bondi Beach – I have finally counted my blessings. Anyway, I should have taken a lesson from Lyra earlier – if life gives you puddles, stand in the middle and have a good sook. Words we should all live by…..
Anyway, nervous tension was not going to get in the way of the Christmas countdown – I am made of sterner stuff. I managed to plain ice all the cakes in the afternoon before drifting off to finally tick off another item on the outstanding admin pile (sadly not the insurance – but tomorrow perhaps, between unpacking boxes)). Decorating had to wait until Keith returned with the giant box of latex gloves for colouring the icing. He and Lachlan went to the pub on the way back from Sainsbos, so I only managed three before I had to pack up to organise dinner. Still, three down (two gift cakes for my posting presents and a spare one for Lachlan’s office because they were lovely to him when he had the flu.)
Tomorrow is the first day of the great furniture decanting. Keith is taking Lyra for a walk and Mum and I are heading off early doors to direct operations. It’ll all be fine. Definitely. Totally fine. I mean what could possibly go wrong…..
Anyway – today’s quiz question: Sweet Potato, Tomato, Yam, Cassava – why is the tomato the odd one out?
Yesterday’s answer – a comma
