Yesterday was, in the greater part, spent lugging boxes around and by the end of the day, after a brief segue into Christmas granola making, I was absolutely whacked. I was, as they say, neither use nor ornament. I spent the evening in bed with a cooking sherry, a bar of chocolate and an improving book. Whilst I finished both the sherry and the chocolate – I managed half a page of the book before pegging out. It has been pointed out to me that this rather left the druids in the lurch for the winter solstice. Indeed this is quite true, There was no seasonal prancing naked around trees or fire jumping. Well, perhaps next year…
Things got a little back on track today as an amnesty on further house moving matters was declared. Mum and I had a charming walk around the loch with a very ebullient Lyra, who was galloping most of the way and arguments about the skip were kept to the bare minimum. The gay abandon of our floofy companion, combined with the regular explosions of pigeon feathers (all absent pigeons) on the path, led us to suspect we were following the trail of a fox. Lyra was clearly hoping to catch up, practicing her seductive moves all the way round, but her ardour remained unrequited.
Back home, I set to to replenishing mince pie stocks. Sadly, three crumbled coming out of the tin so we had to eat them straight away, lest a visitor be confronted with an imperfect specimen. After that I hit the sellotape and wrapping commenced. I managed a fair old shift and have finished the neighbourhood by hands and most of the big stuff (such as it is – I got bored of shopping fairly early this year….) so it’s just the stockings and odds and sods to go. After dinner I donned the headphones to listen to a not at all improving book (but set in the same period as the improving one so there is that..) and managed to finish the front of the jumper which will almost certainly not be finished for Christmas.
Anyway, the quiz question for yesterday and today are, respectively:
