The Mummy’s revenge..

They do say, don’t they, that you eventually grow into your mother….Well Lachlan had a taste of the future on Mothers’ day. He had been super secretive about the present he had procured for days and was of the view that he had totally “nailed it”. He was therefore somewhat non plussed when I burstContinue reading “The Mummy’s revenge..”

Dame Edna and the frogs

We have had two glorious days. Moral fibre has frayed. Household chores have been abandoned for the wheelbarrow and kneeling mat. The ironing pile, once reduced to a mere foothill, is now a vertiginous ridge walk of Munros. Tomorrow’s forecast is for largely fine but thereafter gloomy. Normal laundry service will resume with the gloom.Continue reading “Dame Edna and the frogs”

Karma Chameleon Days (Red, Gold and Gree- ee- ee- een)

On one of the rainier days last week I finally got to some financial admin I had been putting off. I had to query a tax claim. A hoppin’ and a buzzin’

Punctuation gone mad

I had two days doing other things and, in the interim, the bulk of the blanket weed has mysteriously, and thankfully, disappeared from the bottom pond and the tadpoles have emerged in droves. There is now an international comma and apostrophe convention on the beach of the pond, which is almost black with them. TheContinue reading “Punctuation gone mad”

Damp bahookie

There’s something quite liberating about knowing that no one is going to drop by. However, what I am discovering about my “liberated” self, is that she has not developed much from the 8 year old with a prized a baggie net, save for becoming more scruffy. (It is a known fact that, despite spending mostContinue reading “Damp bahookie”

Nippy the Newt Strikes Back

I have been gardening in and around the pond the last few days and keeping an eye on the wildlife. The wilder throes of passion seem to have died down amongst the frogs but I have noticed long ribbons of toad spawn in the Ibiza pool tangled up amongst the tapioca style frogspawn. The toadsContinue reading “Nippy the Newt Strikes Back”
