Kerry Packered

I spent today shifting boxes. The removal men arrived and delivered the first van load then went off for more. In the gap I moved half the boxes they had delivered into the vast cupboard (formerly coal cellar) Dan had just that minute finished shelving. That was rather the pattern of the day. After the second delivery I moved all the boxes left where the third delivery furniture will need to go into new locations. As we left, Dan was shelving the pantry (god knows what it was before). I am heading down early tomorrow to fill it before the third lorry load arrives. Mum has had a dazed expression all day and is clearly overwhelmed. Yes, I lost the fight to get rid of some of this before it went into storage. Yes “I told you so” would be utterly merited. However, I think I can just about keep my shit together so long as she decides where the four, or possibly five, wardrobes arriving tomorrow should go at the first attempt so that I don’t have to attempt to move them again later. I can do this.

Today’s Christmas activity has been a bit of after dinner knitting. I did promise to make more mince pies but, in the end, decided that lying in the bath took priority. We have three more lorries coming tomorrow. Keith has put the trees in holders all on his own (or possibly enlisting the neighbours – I am past caring) but they are both perfectly vertical so JOB DONE. Tomorrow we decorate. Barry the decorator is staying with us so he will be helping. I’m not sure he will approve of the fling it on, the more clashing colours the better, system. Anyway I have to go to bed before I peg out. There was a lovely sunset over the public toilets in the car park next to mum’s house this afternoon so I shall leave you with that and a tangle of knitting.

Today’s quiz question: Which is the odd one out Butter, Toast, Chocolat, Kipper?

Yesterday’s answer: tomato because it is the only one in the potato family. (Yes there are other reasons but this is the one I have chosen)
